14^th District MWSA

Minutes of the Stated Meeting of

July 30, 2025

            On July 30, 2025 at 7:30 p.m., the 14^th District MWSA was opened by WM Charles Jackson of the host lodge, and President Roger Landry at Oak Cliff Masonic Lodge #705, 1309  Newport Avenue, Dallas, TX 75224.  44 Master Masons and no guests were present.

            President led the meeting in prayer and pledges to the U.S. and Texas flags.

            Officers present were Roger Landry (President), Robert Weston (Vice President), David Ritter (Secretary), Fred Sloan (Treasurer), and George Rutherford (Ambassador).  VP introduced visiting dignitaries: Past Presidents, 64^th Masonic District President, and D.I., 14^th District Instructors; sitting Worshipful Masters, District Deputy Grand Masters, and the sitting W.M. of the host lodge and his officers.  The President thanked Oak Cliff for hosting and meal.

SECRETARY’S REPORT: Minutes for June stated meeting were approved by motion.

TREASURERS REPORT: $2938.15, no change from last month. A motion to pay all bills and accept the report was approved by motion.

OLD BUSINESS: None

NEW BUSINESS:  The President relayed his remarks on the year, recognizing the prior awards to John Bowser as the Mason of the Year; and Kevin Morton as Masonic Mentor of the Year.  The guest speakers were thanked, and Brother President spoke of his enjoyment for the year, and the importance of maintaining health and his journey in that area.

The traveling gavel’s current location at Carrollton Lodge was reported and the fact that it had traveled more this year than at any time in the last fourteen years was discussed.

ELECTION: An election was held, presided over by Past President Seth Alston.  A tellers’ committee of Past Presidents Ronnie Wise, David Bindel, Patrick Travers, Matthew Parmalee and Justin Curtsinger was appointed, and the following officers were elected for the ensuing Masonic year:

President:         Robert Weston

Vice-President: David Ritter

Secretary:         Fred Sloan

Treasurer:        Nominations: Grady Smart, Kevin Kerr Morton, Jr., Kevin Kerr Morton, winner:  (27-14)

Installation of the new officers took place.   Bro Past President Seth A officiated the installation and Bro. Past President Bro. Scott Hill was the Marshall.  The Elected officers and appointed officers were duly and truly installed.  Bro. Deon Williams was appointed as Chaplin and Bro. George Rutherford was appointed as ambassador.

ANNOUNCEMENTS/UPCOMING EVENTS:

PM Andrew Franklin – District Aug 15 1pm Brisco workshop RW Jim Rumsey @ Dallas Sickness and distress, including a status on PGM Kirby’s recovery, was given.

Brummett Lodge, Sat AM – Ken Sides will get his 60-year pin (breakfast at 8, lodge 9)

Mercury 950 – holding a festive board on 9.6.25 Saturday, Maggiano’s drinks at 6, dinner 7, Bro. Billy Hamilton will be speaker

GLoT has set up a donation link via Texas Charity Foundation – for Flood relief or the Texas Foundation Operations.

64^th MWSA – Breakfast prior to GL and a banquet for inbound GM of TX (MARCH 21^st, 2026).  Asking to combine with 14^th to host/participate along with the 64^th.Oct Family Day (2^nd Saturday) TRMC – at looking for volunteers and the Friday night before is the BBQ prep night.

The meeting was concluded, peace and harmony prevailing, at 8:35 p.m.
